We are now going to present you the crossover of the Korean brand Kia which is quite sold in France: the e-Niro.
THE CHARACTERISTICS OF E-NIRO
In terms of motorization, the buyer of the electric crossover will have the choice between the 100 kW (136 hp) motor, which is identical to most other electric vehicles, and the 150 kW (204 hp) motor, which is more powerful. The Korean manufacturer has therefore made the same choice as for the SUV of the same group, the Hyundai Kona. Thanks to the more powerful engine, the car will be able to exceed 100 km/h in 7.8s, one second less than the DS electric SUV: the DS3 Sportback.
On the technology side, Kia presents 4 versions of this vehicle, with different options depending on the range chosen.
All versions will then have the right to Intelligent Cruise Control and Emergency Braking, as well as the Android and Auto and Apple car Play compatible touch screen. However, it will be necessary to move up the range by choosing the Active or Design versions to be able to take advantage of the intelligent high beam management and the UVO Connect service that allows you to manage the charging and temperature of the vehicle remotely. Finally, the Premium version will offer even more comfort with leather seats, a JBL audio system and blind spot monitoring.
AUTONOMY AND RECHARGING OF THE KIA E-NIRO
The Korean brand has tried here to stand out from the competition by using, for all versions of its vehicle, a 64kWh battery, whereas the standard seems to be 50kWh. This gives the car a WLTP range of 455 km, which is similar to the Hyundai Kona in its 64 kWh version. But it surpasses the city cars of Peugeot and Renault as well as the SUV of DS.
To recharge his vehicle, its owner will have, as with all electric vehicles, several choices.
At home, with the help of Kia’s partner ZEBorne, he will be able to have a 7.2kW charging station installed for 1500 euros in order to recharge his car in 7h10 to avoid waiting 18h35 with just a 2.8kW reinforced plug.
With the same Type 2 cable supplied by the manufacturer, it will also be possible to recharge one’s car on the 11kW public charging stations in 12 hours, which seems slower than for other vehicles.
Finally, thanks to the 77kW Combo CCS socket, the vehicle can be recharged in 38 minutes on the 100kW quick charging stations, compared to 30 minutes for most other major electric cars.
HOW DO YOU RATE KIA E-NIRO?
The Kia e-Niro Crossover stands out for its greater range and power than electric SUVs. Its large battery, however, takes longer to charge.
However, this does not seem to be a big problem and it will be quite possible to use it for long journeys and especially holidays because of its autonomy but also thanks to its 451L trunk.
On the price side, depending on the finishes and the engine, it will cost between 37,000 and 47,000 euros to buy this car.
