Tesla’s supervised driver assistance, sold as FSD (Supervised) in the US and now called Tesla Assisted Driving in Europe, is deployed in ten European countries as of 8 November 2026, according to Tesla’s own list. France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK are not among them. Here is where it is approved, how each country got there, and what is still blocking an EU-wide approval.
The ten European countries on Tesla’s list
Tesla lists the markets where it has completed deployment on its vehicle safety report page. In Europe, on 8 November 2026: the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia and Latvia. Outside Europe, the list also includes the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea.
| Country | Status | What we can date from official sources |
|---|---|---|
| Netherlands | Deployed | Provisional type approval by the RDW on 10 April 2026, valid in the Netherlands only (RDW). On 3 November the RDW approved Tesla’s changes: the name Tesla Assisted Driving and a speed offset capped at +10% (RDW). |
| Lithuania | Deployed | National recognition of the Dutch approval (Ministry of Transport). |
| Estonia | Deployed | Recognition of the Dutch approval by the Transport Administration (Transpordiamet). |
| Denmark | Deployed | Provisional approval announced in June 2026 (Færdselsstyrelsen). |
| Belgium | Deployed | On Tesla’s list. |
| Slovenia | Deployed | On Tesla’s list. In an interview with Tesla Mag published on 30 October, the state secretary said drivers remain fully responsible. |
| Czech Republic | Deployed | On Tesla’s list. In an interview with Tesla Mag published on 3 November, Ivan Bednařík said responsibility stays entirely with the driver. |
| Croatia | Deployed | Approval announced by Tesla on 29 September 2026 (Tesla Europe). |
| Slovakia | Deployed | Recognition announced by the Ministry of Transport on 16 October 2026 (ministry). |
| Latvia | Deployed | On Tesla’s list. |
How a country gets it: national recognition
The Dutch approval is provisional and, according to the RDW, valid only in the Netherlands. Under Article 39 of Regulation (EU) 2018/858, any other member state may recognise it on its own territory. That is the route the other nine countries took. Once a country approves, Tesla decides when to switch the feature on, through an over-the-air update, for compatible cars whose owners bought or subscribe to it.
The big markets that are still waiting
- Germany: the federal transport ministry wrote on 6 October that it wants a quick EU-wide approval, and that Tesla had agreed to cap the speed offset at 10% and proposed the new name (BMV).
- Italy: transport minister Matteo Salvini wrote on 29 October, after a call with Elon Musk, that Italy supports a quick EU approval (his post).
- France: not approved. The transport ministry has agreed to answer Tesla Mag’s written questions; its answer has not been published yet.
- Switzerland: the Federal Roads Office told Tesla Mag it has received no application from Tesla.
- Spain, Sweden, the UK, Norway: not on Tesla’s list on 8 November.
What an EU-wide approval needs
An approval valid across the EU requires a vote of the member states in the Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles, by qualified majority: 15 of the 27 states, representing 65% of the EU population. The committee discussed the file on 6 October without voting, and no vote date has been published. On Tesla’s third-quarter call on 21 October, Elon Musk said he would be surprised if it took longer than the first quarter of 2027.
What changes for drivers in the approved countries
- The feature appears as Tesla Assisted Driving on the screen and in the manual.
- The speed offset is capped at +10% and resets to 0% at every start, under the changes approved by the RDW on 3 November.
- The driver stays fully responsible, and the car monitors attention: the authorities that answered Tesla Mag all insisted on this point.
This tracker is updated when a country is added to Tesla’s list or an authority publishes a decision. Last update: 8 November 2026. Tesla Mag’s written consultation of 28 European transport authorities, launched on 20 October 2026, feeds the national entries.
