Rent a Tesla to try FSD (Supervised), with the guarantee that it is actually activated: Turo is launching this in the United States on Wednesday, October 28. The peer-to-peer car rental platform checks FSD status directly with Tesla. What changes for renters, for owners, and what we know about Europe.
What Turo announced
In a press release issued on October 26 in San Francisco, Turo says it is “debuting the first verified Tesla FSD (Supervised) rental experience for travelers in the U.S.” From October 28, guests can search for and book a Tesla with FSD (Supervised) activated. The status is verified through a direct integration with Tesla, rather than on the owner’s word.
For owners: a free month of FSD
Hosts link their Tesla account to Turo, and the FSD status is verified and shown on the listing. According to Turo, “eligible U.S. hosts can also receive a free one-month FSD (Supervised) trial subscription.” Tesla is already well placed on the platform: the Model 3 and Model Y are the third and fourth most popular models on Turo year to date, the company says.
“Most travelers have had limited opportunity to experience driver’s assistance technology, but the demand is clear,” said Andre Haddad, CEO of Turo. “Our own research shows that 55% of Americans are interested in driverless technology for travel, growing to 71% for Gen Z.”
And in Europe?
Turo operates in France, but the offer announced only covers the United States. FSD (Supervised), called Tesla Assisted Driving in Europe, is not yet approved in France. Tesla Mag has asked Turo when the offer could come to Europe, and will publish its answer.
