Three names drew the crowd at X Takeover 2026 in Giga Texas on Saturday: Elon Musk, live on screen; his mother, Maye Musk; and Nicki Minaj, who arrived in a pink Cybertruck. Here are the moments that mattered, as published by the organizer, Tesla Owners Silicon Valley.
Elon Musk on AI: “not everyone’s a nice person”
Musk joined by video for a live conversation titled “What Comes Next for Humanity”. The full interview is available on the organizer’s account.
Much of it was about artificial intelligence. Musk talked about how people should treat AI, noting that “not everyone’s a nice person”, and defended AI-generated music against those who dismiss it as “slop”: “The AI music is really good.” On humanoid robots, he was blunt about rivals’ demo videos: real AI, he said, is showing a robot something it has never seen before and watching it still work.
He also looked back at the 2018 Model 3 production crunch, when Tesla raised output “by 30% in three weeks”, and said SpaceX’s main focus on Starship is “to make sure everything is as safe as possible”. The talk ended on a lighter note when one of his children walked in; Musk introduced her to the crowd and signed off.
Maye Musk: “we called him our encyclopedia”
Maye Musk, 78, came to talk about her new book, Timeless, on reinvention and resilience at any age. She shared stories from Elon’s childhood, when the family nicknamed him “our encyclopedia”, and spoke candidly about nearly losing him to malaria and about an abusive relationship in her own past.
Nicki Minaj, Grok and a pink Cybertruck
The most-watched clip of the day belonged to Nicki Minaj. The rapper, who arrived in a custom pink Cybertruck dedicated to her fans, the Barbz, told the crowd that using Grok’s new AI agent “made me feel like I was cheating in life”. The clip passed 230,000 views on the organizer’s account within a day.
The Tesla side of the day
Between talks, Tesla made its own news: its Robotaxi account confirmed more than 300 Cybercabs now serving Austin, an eightfold increase in 30 days, and Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s head of AI, said Dallas comes next.
The night closed with a synchronized Tesla light show and a drone show over the factory.
Next on the calendar: Tesla unveils the new Roadster on Thursday, October 15, at 6 p.m. Pacific time.
